Nuuk International Film Festival 2026

At last year’s Nuuk International Film Festival (2025), discussions included the topic of a Greenlandic film institute. This year, we are delighted to have both participated in and contributed to the festival.

On the occasion of NIFF’s 10th anniversary, we at the Greenland Film Institute would like to offer our congratulations on the impressive work accomplished and the festival’s outstanding execution. We would especially like to commend the organizers for making film in Greenland a true passion project over the years and for helping to promote the art of filmmaking in the country.

It is evident that the film sector in Greenland is undergoing significant development. Consequently, the time has come for the Greenland Film Institute to provide financial support and actively engage in this work. Film festivals are of great importance to filmmakers and the many others who collaborate on film projects.

Film festivals are venues for finding partners, exploring new opportunities, and engaging in debate. Here, one can watch a wide range of films, secure funding, meet visiting guests, attend professional events and presentations of new film projects—and, not least, experience premieres of new films.

This year, the following Greenlandic films and film projects were featured:

•             Erfalasorput

•             Tartupaluk (Virtual Reality)

•             Sila

•             Tamatta Ataqatigiippugut

•             Arctic Sports & Dene Games

•             Orsugiak

•             City in the Fox

•             Always Moving

•             North of the Storm

•             Nunarpununa

•             Malugiviuk? •              It Was June

•             The Quiet Invasion

•             Nuanneq Niperput

•             Banquise

If you are interested in Greenlandic cinema and want to experience a country evolving within the world of film—and if you care about Greenland and its people being understood and experienced beyond the country’s borders—we warmly encourage you to follow along when the Nuuk International Film Festival returns next year.

In closing, we would like to thank the organizers, staff, partners, visiting guests, and the many audience members at NIFF. We are already looking forward to next year.
